My name is Steve Daggs and this web site is a collection of the photographic images I have taken over the years.   I have had a life-long interest in photography with my parents recording nearly every family event on film.  They gave me a Kodak Brownie camera so I could do the same and that was the beginning.

When I entered high school, I found out that there was a dark room in the back of the Industrial Arts (what we called "Shop") area.  It hadn't been used in many years, so it took some work to get it cleaned up and operational.

I'll never forget the thrill of turning on the lights and seeing that first roll of film that contained the photographs that I had taken.  And then there was the process of printing those photographs and watching the image come up in the developing tray.  I was hooked!

With my part time job, I was able to purchase my own equipment and set up a dark room in what was the coal room at home.  While in college at the University of Iowa, I worked for the Daily Iowan, the University's newspaper, and took an elective photography class to build my knowledge.

Photography has always been a part of my life when I could fit it in with work and family.  In 1998, I started photographing bicycle races and in 2005 expanded to high school, college and professional sports, freelancing for various newspapers and media outlets.  You can view my sports photos at:  www.sportsphotonews.com.
